NYC Activities
Whether you live in New York City or the surrounding areas, there is never a shortage of things to do. One of the most famous cities in the world, New York City offers something for everyone—no matter the season. Review a few of our top NYC activities to enjoy with your family and friends this season and beyond.
Central Park
It’s easy to spend an entire day at this park and National Historic Landmark. Central Park features 693 acres of human-made gardens, hillsides, meadows, and forests, as well as 48 fountains and sculptures, 20 playgrounds, and 30 bridges. This 843-acre park also features a zoo, the Strawberry Fields John Lennon Memorial, the Victorian-style Loeb Boathouse, and the Wollman Rink among many other attractions. Famous museums within the park’s grounds or close by include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Guggenheim.
The High Line
A 1 ½-mile-long landscape park, the High Line was once a railroad track on Manhattan’s West Side. Walk this park and enjoy looking down at three distinct NYC neighborhoods: Hell’s Kitchen, West Chelsea, and the Meatpacking District. You’ll also enjoy views of the Hudson River. Park highlights include sunbathing and picnic areas, food vendors, and rotating public artworks. Tours are available, such as those about how the High Line went from “freight to flowers.”
Whitney Museum of American Art
Even friends who aren’t art enthusiasts will appreciate what this museum offers, including a top-floor bar and ground-floor restaurant by renowned NYC restaurateur Danny Meyer. Friends who love the arts will find the 50,000 square feet of galleries delightful, with featured artists including Richard Avedon and Jean-Michel Basquiat. If you take the stairs instead of the elevators, you’ll enjoy views of the Hudson River. Upper floors include “outdoor” stairs with views of the Manhattan skyline.
A few of our other top NYC picks include the New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the Flatiron Building!
